WORLD, Aug. 07 (YPA) – A Russian newspaper has disclosed Emirati efforts to establish an Israeli military base in the unrecognized region of Somaliland, located across from the Gulf of Aden.
The Russian newspaper “Nezavisimaya” reported that the base would enable military operations against the Yemeni government of “Ansarullah,” which supports Palestinian resistance operations in Gaza.
The “Emirates Leaks” portal stated that the UAE is negotiating with Somaliland authorities to allow Israeli forces access to military bases. The UAE has reportedly assured the Somaliland leadership that “Benjamin Netanyahu’s government” is prepared to officially recognize Somaliland as a state, which would pave the way for establishing bilateral relations with the Israeli entity, according to “Arabi 21.”
“Emirates Leaks” also noted that the UAE’s move to facilitate Israeli presence in Somaliland aligns with a strategy to expand Israeli influence in the region, aiming to exert military pressure on the Sanaa government.
