Over 1,040 Palestinians killed in shelter centers by Israeli occupation since start of war on Gaza

GAZA, Aug. 05 (YPA) – The government media office in Gaza Strip announced on Sunday that the Israeli occupation forces have killed more than 1,040 Palestinians displaced to shelter centers in the Strip since the start of the war on October 7.

The Israeli occupation war on the Gaza Strip has entered its 303rd day with the continuation of the daily Israeli aggression on all areas of the Strip. Israeli attacks targeted the tents of the displaced in the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, the homes of civilians in Deir Al-Balah, and schools housing the displaced in the Sheikh Radwan and Al-Nasr neighborhoods.

The government media office said, “The occupation army has bombed and targeted 172 shelter centers inhabited by tens of thousands of displaced people since the beginning of the genocidal war.”

Among these centers are 152 schools housing displaced persons, including government schools and schools affiliated with the International Relief Agency (UNRWA). The number of martyrs inside schools has exceeded 1,040.

These ongoing massacres are a continuation of the Israeli occupation’s crimes against Palestinian people for the tenth consecutive month.

The office added, “It is clear that the Israeli occupation army focuses greatly on targeting and bombing displaced civilians inside schools and also targets deliberately gatherings of displaced civilians in general, especially in areas that the occupation claims are safe areas, with the aim of achieving the largest possible number of civilian victims.”

These massacres come in light of the Israeli occupation’s destruction of the health system and burning of hospitals, the shortage of health and medical supplies, the closure of crossings to the travel of the wounded and sick, and the failure to bring in fuel.

The media office condemned the Israeli occupation’s commission of these horrific massacres against civilians and the US administration’s alignment with the occupation in the crime of genocide” and held them fully responsible for the continuation of these massacres against the displaced and civilians.

It called on the international community, the United Nations, international organizations, and all the free countries of the world to pressure the Israeli occupation and the US administration to stop the war of genocide in the Gaza Strip.”

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from the Israeli war, which has been ongoing since October 7, has risen to 39,583 and 91,398 wounded; the majority of victims are women and children, while more than 10,000 others are still missing.
