Gunmen attack tribal sheikh in Abyan

ABYAN, Aug. 03 (YPA) – A tribal sheikh was subjected on Saturday to an assassination attempt at Khanfar District of Abyan province, south of Yemen.

Sources familiar with the matter said the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) opened fire on the convoy of Hassan Jabran Al-Jaadani, one of sheikhs of Al-Jaadna tribe, near the Dofas security checkpoint while he was heading a tribal procession to participate the parade square in Aden.

The sources affirmed that the gunmen opened heavy fire to limit the flow of Abyan tribes towards the parade square in Aden to demand the disclosure of the fate of their kidnapped son, Major Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani, who has been held by the STC since last June.
