Australia sends military aid to Ukraine worth nearly $250 Million

WORLD, July 12 (YPA) -The government of Australia announced on Friday that it will send  its largest single military assistance package to Ukraine, worth nearly $250 million.

According to a statement posted on the Australian Department of Defense website: “The Australian government continues to support Ukraine, announcing the largest Australian military aid package valued at approximately $250 million.”

The country’s defense ministry said it will include air defense missiles, air-to-ground weapons (including guided weapons), and anti-tank weapons, as well as artillery shells and ammunition for mortars, cannons, and small arms.

At the recent NATO summit in Washington, over 20 countries signed a document to accelerate and coordinate collective efforts to provide military support to Kyiv.

The signatories of the document include US, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, along with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission, and Volodymyr Zelensky.

As part of this document, the signatories commit to “providing support to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs in defense, security, military training, and army modernization.”
