First Arab woman of Yemeni origin to become member of British House of Commons

LONDON, July 06 (YPA) – A British woman of Yemeni origins won a historic victory as the first British citizen of Arab origin to enter the British House of Commons on behalf of the Labor Party.

The British lawyer, who is of Yemeni parents, Abtisam Muhammad Qasim, won membership in the British House of Commons from the Labor Party with a high percentage over all of her competitors in the city of Sheffield.

Abtisam is a member of the local council in the city of Sheffield. She got the support of all the Yemeni and Arab communities in the city.

It is noteworthy that the lawyer, Abtisam, comes from the Yafea area in Lahj province, southern Yemen.
