LIONGWE, June 11 (YPA) – Media sources in Malawi announced on Tuesday that the wreckage of the plane carrying Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima had been found, more than a day after contact with it was lost.
Agence France-Presse quoted a member of the military rescue team tasked with searching for the plane as saying, “The wreckage of the Malawi army plane was found on one of the slopes.” The source added that the death of all those on board the ill-fated plane were confirmed.
For its part, a local radio reported that Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera would provide details about funeral arrangements at a later time.
On Monday, the Malawi presidency announced that a plane carrying the Vice President and nine others had disappeared, explaining that “all efforts by the aviation authorities to contact the plane since it disappeared from radar screens have failed.”
