Pro-Palestinian activists prepare to besiege White House complex

WORLD, June 08 (YPA) – Pro-Palestinian activists are preparing to besiege the White House complex in Washington, D.C., early this week, demanding an immediate halt to the war in the Gaza Strip, which has led to heightened security measures in the area.

The activists, during their protest, plan to call for an end to the war in Gaza and a cessation of US support for Israel, driving authorities to implement additional security measures around the White House complex, including the erection of a fence.

Advocacy groups and activists, such as the women’s movement “Code Pink” and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), announced on Friday that demonstrations are scheduled for Saturday to mark eight months since the war in Gaza began.

The United States has seen months of protests demanding an end to the war, ranging from marches in Washington to sit-ins near the White House, as well as the blocking of bridges and roads near train stations and airports in multiple cities, and setting up sit-in camps on many university campuses.

During this period, at least eight officials from President Joe Biden’s administration have resigned in opposition to his policies. Protesters have also disrupted some events related to Biden’s re-election campaign.

“In preparation for events scheduled for early this week in Washington, D.C., which are likely to draw large crowds, additional public safety measures have been implemented near the White House complex, ” a spokesperson for the US Secret Service said.
