Israeli occupation forces arrest journalist Rasha Hirzallah in Nablus

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, June 03 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces  arrested on Sunday the Palestinian journalist Rasha Hirzallah from the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank, after she had been summoned for investigation by Zionist intelligence.

Palestinian information center quoted Hirzallah’s family reporting that the Israeli intelligence summoned the journalist Rasha for investigation at a detention center in the Ariel illegal settlement near Ramallah. Upon her arrival, along with her lawyer, she was told that she was under arrest for 72 hours, with no further information on the reasons or charges.

Detainee Hirzallah works as a correspondent for the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), and she is sister of the resistance fighter and martyr of Lions’ Den group Muhammad Hirzallah, known as Abu Hamdi.

Israeli arrest campaigns against Palestinian journalists have escalated since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023. The IOF has arrested since then 80 journalists including women. About 49 of them are still held captive in Israel’s custody, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society.

The arrest of Hirzallah brings the number of journalists detained in Israeli occupation prisons to 50, including 5 women.
