Pro-coalition commander reveals officials involved in Aden assassinations

ADEN, June 01 (YPA) – A former commander loyal to the Saudi-led coalition forces acknowledged on Saturday several assassinations were carried out in the center of the city of Aden, southern Yemen, against a number of political, military, and religious figures.

Amjad Khaled Al-Qahtani, the former commander of the “Transport Brigade,” affiliated with the Islah Party, told Al-Mahriya Channel about the involvement of leaders in the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in carrying out the assassinations under the supervision of Emirati officers in Aden.

He stated that the Salafist leader in the STC, Hani bin Brik, who currently resides in the Emirates, met with Mahran Al-Qabati and Mohammed Al-Bokri, and offered about $100,000 to assassinate any leaders inside Aden.

Al-Qahtani indicated that his team managed to seize an assassination cell that was planning to target the leader Adeeb Al-Eisi, and Sheikh Fahd Al-Yonsi, the preacher Adel Al-Shehri, and others, confirming that leaders in the STC, which are working under the supervision and support of Emirati officers, stood behind those cells.

He called for formatting an international investigation committee, whether from the Security Council Committee of Experts or others, in order to uncover the truth about those involved in the assassinations in Aden.

Al-Qahtani’s statements came after a court in Aden accused Al-Qahtani” and 7 others of bombing Aden Airport and targeting the convoy of the governor of Aden, affiliated with the STC, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, last week.
