Harvard students end protest after university officials agreed to discuss Gaza war

WORLD, May 15 (YPA) – Pro- Palestine protesters voluntarily took down their tents in Harvard University’s square in the United States after university officials agreed to address their questions.

They reported reaching an agreement to hold a meeting with university officials, including Harvard’s management company, which oversees the world’s largest academic endowment of around $50 billion.

The statement mentioned that the students would put forward an agenda that includes discussions on divestment, reinvestment, and establishing a Palestinian studies center.

It noted “Harvard” offers to reverse its decision to suspend more than 20 students and one staff member, and to retract disciplinary actions against more than 60 others.

Meanwhile, the university’s interim president, Alan Garber, agreed to organize a meeting between the protesters and university officials regarding the students’ demands.

Harvard University stated that its president and the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Hobi Hoekstra, would meet with the protesters to discuss the issue of the war on Gaza.
