Yemen FM welcomes UNGA’s resolution on Palestine
SANAA, May 11 (YPA) – Sanaa-based The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the decision taken by of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) granting the State of Palestine the full membership in the United Nations.
In a statement on Saturday, the ministry considered the decision an encouraging beginning towards the international community’s support for the Palestinian right to obtain its state and freedom from the hands of the brutal Zionist occupation.
The statement praised some countries’ stance that have recently recognized the State of Palestine, calling on other countries to do so.
It urged the Security Council to carry out its responsibility to submit a recommendation to the UNGA granting the State of Palestine full membership, as this would restore the prestige of the United Nations Charter and international law, and preserve the cohesion of the United Nations.
The ministry’s statement called on the international community to play its role in ending the aggression and siege imposed on Gaza, reaffirming that the government and people of the Republic of Yemen stand with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to establish their independent state and its capital Al Quds.
