Power generation companies threaten to completely halt services in Aden

ADEN, May 10 (YPA) – Four power generation companies called on government loyal to Saudi-led coalition to settle their outstanding financial dues for three years.

This came in a letter sent by four electricity production companies (SABSON, Al-Ahram, Al-Saeed Group, and Al-Elyan Energy) to the Minister of Electricity, Mannaa Yaselem bin Yamin.

The four companies threatened to completely shut down the stations at 12:00 noon on May 20th, holding the General Electricity Corporation full legal and financial responsibility.

The companies demanded the payment of financial dues for the period from April 2021 to March 2024 for all companies, which are still pending at the Ministry of Finance.

The companies demanded the Ministry of Electricity to sign the expired contracts within two weeks from the date of the letter sent

The city of Aden has been witnessing an unprecedented deterioration in the electricity sector amid major economic crises facing the pro-coalition government, amidst widespread popular discontent and anger.
