EU employees protest Israeli occupation crimes

BRUSSELS, May 09 (YPA) – More than 100 employees of European Union (EU) institutions in Brussels organized a protest against the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

On Wednesday, protesters placed three rolled-up white cloth covers stained with red spots in the square facing the main office of the European Commission in the Belgian capital.

The words “International Law,” “European Union Conventions,” and “Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide” were written on the three “corpses” in protest against Israeli crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Manus Carlisle, an employee of the European Commission, said: “We are gathering here in a peaceful gathering to defend these rights, principles, and values on which European institutions were built.”

For her part, Simona Balogova, who works for the European Committee of the Regions, said the protest should not be seen as a political statement. She added, “The idea of this protest is that we are neutral.”

Balogova continued: “Our protest is not political; we are only defending the values of the European Union.”
