ADEN, May 02 (YPA) – A journalist was threatened with physical liquidation after being kidnapped by the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces in the coalition-held city of Aden, south of Yemen.
Journalist Ahmed Abdel Qader Al-Busaili confirmed in a post on Facebook that he was kidnapped by the STC forces during the past days and taken to a farm in Jaoula area.
Al-Busaili indicated that he was threatened due to his journalistic writings, explaining that the gunmen forced him to write a pledge not to write or criticize officials before he released.
This came after journalist Saleh Al-Hanashi managed to flee from the city of Aden to his hometown of Abyan province.
A number of anti-STC journalists and media professionals had been subjected to arrests and assassinations in Aden over the past years, including journalist Rasha Al-Harazi, who was assassinated in November 2011 and her husband, Mahmoud Al-Atmi, was injured by an explosive device that exploded in their car in the Khor Maksar area.
In June 2022, Journalist Saber Noman Al-Haidari was also subjected to an assassination operation similar to the assassination of Al-Harazi, amid accusations that the STC carried out assassinations against journalists for reasons described as regional.
