Iranian official denies direct negotiations with US

TEHRAN, April 22 (YPA) – An informed source has stated that there are no direct negotiations between Iran and the United States, despite speculation regarding recent exchanges of messages as potential signs of direct communication between Tehran and Washington.

The source told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and chief nuclear negotiator, Ali Baqeri Kani, is following talks on lifting sanctions with the member states of the nuclear agreement.

The source added that some media outlets claimed direct talks between representatives of Iran and the United States, and the existence of some changes in the negotiating mechanisms.

This comes as Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, announced in a statement to Iranian media about his visit to New York, where diplomatic ways to end sanctions on Iran were discussed.
