BRUSSELS, April 16 (YPA) – The Minister of Environment in the Belgian government, Zakia Khattabi, has filed a lawsuit and requested the opening of two investigations against the UAE against the backdrop of the scandal of spying on her through a private intelligence company.
The French website ‘Lesoir’ reported that Khattabi, who is of Moroccan origin, filed a complaint to seek justice in the “Abu Dhabi Secrets” file.
An investigation into the Abu Dhabi secrets dossier by the European Investigative Cooperation (EIC), based on thousands of documents leaked from the Swiss private intelligence company Alp Services a year ago, showed that the company, with UAE support, spied on hundreds of people across Europe on behalf of Emirati intelligence, including 160 characters in Belgium.
French and Swiss prosecutors have opened several legal investigations targeting the private intelligence agency in Geneva.
