Al-Qaeda militants target STC military vehicle in Abyan

ABYAN, April 02 (YPA) – Gunmen believed to be affiliated with al-Qaeda targeted on Monday a military vehicle belonging to the UAE-backed factions in the province of Abyan, southern Yemen, well-informed sources reported.

According to the sources, al-Qaeda militants detonated an explosive device in a military vehicle belonging to the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), on the main road between Al-Qalaita and Al-Qawz intersection, east of Mudiyah district.

The sources did not mention any other details about the losses caused by the explosion, amid speculation of casualties and injuries among the factions.

This comes after the death and injury of eight militia members of the STC  in a similar attack by al-Qaeda last Saturday in the same district.
