Saudi criminal court accuses Saudi professor of terrorism cases

SANAA, July 12 (YPA) – The Saudi Specialized Criminal Court accused a Saudi prominent academic, residing outside the country with a number of cases linked to terrorism, the Saudi official news Agency reported.

According to the agency, the professor of media at King Saud University Ahmed bin Rashid bin Saeed al-Tamimi, is wanted by the specialized criminal court on the basis of article 25 of the anti-terrorism law and its financing.

Ahmed bin Rashid is supposed to appear in front of the court in mid-August, but “he was asked to be present several times, but he did not show up and could not be notified,” the agency said.

Article 25 of combating the crimes of terrorism and its financing gives the competent court the right to issue a judgment in absentia against Ahmed bin Rashid bin Saeed al-Tamimi, after being notified through an official media.

Activists said that the professor did not hurt the Saudi’s regime and he did not criticize the king Salman nor Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salam in any of his tweets.

They said that during the past years,  Ahmed bin Rashid bin Saeed al-Tamimi was active in exposing what he described as “discordant rhetoric,” focusing on the method of publishing news and programs on Al-Arabiya, and other Saudi and Gulf newspapers.
