ADEN, March 02 (YPA) -A seismic earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck the Gulf of Aden on Friday, and it was felt by residents along the Yemeni coast overlooking the area.
Seismological and volcanic monitoring centers in the region reported that the tremor hit the Gulf of Aden off the coast of Yemen, indicating that it was followed by a tremor that struck the Makran Trench off the coast of Pakistan.
They pointed out that seismic energy transferred through the faults in the region to the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Yemen, and the centers predicted the occurrence of aftershocks and tremors around the same center.
Local sources reported that residents of the coastal areas overlooking the Gulf of Aden felt the tremor.
