WORLD, March 01 (YPA) – Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani called Thursday for an “immediate ceasefire” in Gaza and urged “Israel” to protect the Palestinian population after troops opened fire at an aid convoy.
“The tragic deaths in Gaza demand an immediate ceasefire to facilitate more humanitarian aid, the release of hostages and the protection of civilians,” he wrote on X, hours after the incident.
“We strongly urge Israel to protect the people in Gaza and to rigorously ascertain facts and responsibilities,” he added.
Meanwhile, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since October 7th has exceeded 30,000 people.
The war in the Gaza Strip has entered its 146th day, as the Israeli occupation continues its bombings amid a worsening famine, while international mediators race against time to achieve a ceasefire before the month of Ramadan.
