High rates of malnutrition threatens lives of Gaza’s children: UNICEF

GAZA, Feb. 20 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said on Tuesday that the sharp rise in malnutrition rates among children and pregnant and lactating women in the Gaza Strip poses serious threats to their lives.

The UNICEF added that as the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip enters its 20th week, food supplies and potable water have become extremely scarce and infectious diseases have spread, affecting the nutrition and immunity of women and children, and leading to an increase in cases of acute malnutrition.

It called for urgent provision of safe, sustainable and unimpeded access to multidisciplinary humanitarian aid throughout the Strip.
