Meteorology warns of cold weather, sea turbulence

SANAA, Feb. 09 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology predicted on Friday cold weather during the night and early morning in the governorates of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, and Bayda, where temperatures are expected to range between 6 to 10 degrees Celsius.

In its weather bulletin, the center predicted scattered rain in parts of the governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Hodeida, Raymah, Mahweet, Hajjah, and the inland areas adjacent to the Tihama Plain.

According to the center, Moderate to strong winds with a maximum speed of up to 28 knots, are expected especially in the southern parts of the western coast and the entrance to the Bab al-Mandab Strait, causing sea-disturbance and high waves.

The center warned citizens, especially the elderly, children, and patients in mountainous areas of the cold weather, and in areas where rain is expected, to take caution and avoid being in valleys during and after rainfall.

It also warned fishermen, ship captains, and sea-goers in the southern parts of the western coast and the entrance to the Bab al-Mandab Strait about sea disturbances and rising waves.
