Yemeni Parliament Speaker praises positions of British MP, “Apsana Begum”
SANAA, Feb. 07 (YPA) – Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, Yahya Ali Al-Rai, praised the positions of the British Member of the House of Commons, Apsana Begum, including what she touched upon in her question regarding the tragedy in Gaza and Yemen.
In a letter he addressed to Apsana Begum, Al-Rai appreciated its call for the necessity of stopping the bombing of Gaza and Yemen due to the catastrophic dangers it entails.
The Parliament Speaker added in his letter, “We followed with great interest your question to the British Prime Minister about the bombing of Yemen and the warning of humanitarian organizations that the bombing threatens the lives of the civilian population and limits the access of humanitarian aid.”
He stressed that she was successful and right in saying, “Instead of escalating the risks to the civilian population, why does the Prime Minister not support the increasing international calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, put an end to the attacks on Yemen, and call for peace and justice?” “.
Al-Rai considered the British Prime Minister’s response and his insistence on bombing Yemen to be in violation of the voice of reason and international and humanitarian law, despite the Republic of Yemen repeatedly affirming its commitment to protecting navigation in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
He explained that the ban was limited to Israeli ships or those heading to the ports of occupied Palestine until the aggression against Gaza stopped and food and medical aid was brought to the Palestinian people.
Al-Rai pointed out that the United States and Britain are constantly bombing Yemeni cities and terrorizing citizens without any legal justification, but rather because of Yemen’s position in support of the Palestinian people.
He pointed to the American and British support for the Saudi and Emirati aggression coalition against Yemen and their provision of weapons, logistical and intelligence support to the coalition, which resulted in bombing and destruction of the country’s infrastructure.
The Speaker of the Parliament linked these attacks to the bombing that is happening today in Yemen, because of its humanitarian and moral stance that requires stopping the Zionist aggression against Gaza.
