Iraq’s Armed Forces: US strikes constitute a violation of Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to the region

BAGHDAD, Feb. 03 (YPA) – The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of Iraqi Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasoul, reported that the cities of Al-Qaim and the Iraqi border areas were subjected to American air strikes.

He added that the US airstrikes came at a time as Iraq is striving to ensure the stability of the region.

Major General Yahya Rasoul considered these strikes a violation of Iraqi sovereignty, undermining the efforts of the Iraqi government and posing a threat that could lead Iraq and the region into dire consequences.

The Iraqi Armed Forces affirmed that the repercussions would have severe consequences on the security and stability of Iraq and the wider region.

An official in the Iraqi Interior Ministry told AFP that the US airstrikes targeted a light weapons depot, according to preliminary information.

Al-Mayadeen correspondent in Iraq said that two civilians were killed in an initial toll of the aggression against Al-Qaim and Akashat.
