Coalition marginalizes demands of Shabwa tribesmen, threatens to use force

SHABWA, Jan. 10 (YPA) – One of the Shabwa province tribes joined the tribal sit-in camp on Wednesday, demanding a reduction in the prices of oil derivatives, similar to the city of Marib, which is under the control of the factions of the Islah Party loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

The “Al Dayan” tribe of Al-Awaliq area announced its joining the tribal sit-in camp near the Al-Oqla oil field in “Arma’a” district to demand the rights of the people of Shabwa from oil revenues and the sale of fuel to citizens, as is the case in Marib, for 3,500 riyals for a 20-litre gallon instead of 25,000 riyals in Shabwa and the rest of the southern provinces.

The delegation of the Al Dayan tribes arrived hours after the UAE-funded factions, “Shabwa Defence and Al-Amaliqa,” asked the tribal sheikhs to leave the area for security reasons and threatened to disperse the sit-in by force of arms.

The sons of the Shabwa tribes continue their peaceful sit-in for the seventh day in a row to protest the Emirati-Saudi tampering with oil wealth for the benefit of influential people who implement the two states’ agendas in southern Yemen, amid the deteriorating economic conditions and the collapse of basic services in the oil-rich province.

The pro-coalition government agreed to the demands of the people of the Marib tribes for fear of losing the areas controlled by the factions loyal to Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the Al-Wadi District to the Sanaa forces.
