WHO director calls to end ongoing bloodbath in Gaza

NEW YORK, Jan. 08 (YPA) – Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, called on the international community to end to the bloodbath that has been ongoing in the Gaza Strip for 3 months.

“The World Health Organization has received worrying reports of intensifying fighting and ongoing evacuation orders near the very important Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza,” Ghebreyesus said on the “X” platform.

He added that the intensification of the fighting has forced over 600 patients and most of the medical staff to leave the hospital, noting that their whereabouts are not yet known.

The WHO’s Director pointed out that a delegation from the WHO and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs visited Al-Aqsa Hospital in Gaza and had seen a huge number of wounded people being transferred to receive urgent treatment.

“There are no fully operational hospitals in northern Gaza, as another WHO mission was canceled due to risks and not obtaining the necessary permits, and in other places in Gaza only a small number of health facilities are operating,” he stated.
