Severe fuel crisis sweeps largest oil-producing regions of Yemen

MARIB, Dec. 30 (YPA) – The city of Marib in northeastern Yemen has been witnessing a stifling fuel crisis, local sources reported on Saturday.

The sources said that the crisis resulted from tribal gunmen blocking the road about a week ago, against the backdrop of the decision of the Saudi-led coalition authorities to impose a price increase on oil derivatives in the city.

According to the sources, tribal militants continue to block the road in the Al-Irqain area on the main road near the oil production and refining fields in the Safer fields. The situation is causing a stifling situation in the oil-producing city.
As a result, gasoline prices soared from 3,500 riyals to 50,000 riyals for a 20-liter gallon, leading fuel stations to close and internal transportation rates to rise.
