North Korean leader orders military to accelerate preparations for confrontation with Washington

WORLD, Dec. 28 (YPA)- North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has ordered the country’s armed forces, the military-industrial complex, as well as the nuclear weapons sector to accelerate preparations for war, Reuters reported.

According to the head of the DPRK, this is necessary to counter “unprecedented and confrontational steps by the United States.”

Earlier, the news agency reported that the deputy head of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and sister of DPRK leader Kim Yo Jong strongly condemned the “provocations” of the United States and its allies on North Korea.

He accused them of threatening peace and stability in the region, and called on the UN Security Council and the international community to condemn such actions.

Kim has previously stressed that Pyongyang will not hesitate to respond with a nuclear strike to any provocation of the enemy associated with the use of nuclear weapons against the Republic.

Washington and Seoul have issued a stern warning to Pyongyang that any nuclear attack on the United States or South Korea would mean the end of its regime.
