Sanaa stresses need for ships undertaking submarine cable works to obtain permission

SANAA, Dec. 26 (YPA) – The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology in Sanaa on Tuesday stressed the need for all ships carrying out submarine cable work to obtain the necessary permits and approvals from the Yemeni Maritime Affairs Authority in Sanaa.

This came in a statement issued today in which the ministry denied the validity of what was published on some social media pages affiliated with the Zionist enemy about threats towards the submarine cables passing through Bab al-Mandab.

The statement affirmed the keenness of Yemeni government to spare telecommunications lines, cables, and services from any risks.

“Yemen’s decision to prevent the passage of Israeli enemy ships does not concern ships belonging to international companies licensed by the Maritime Affairs Authority in Sanaa to carry out marine cable works,” the ministry’s statement said.

The statement stated that the telecommunications sector is working to develop its interests with its partners, which include submarine cable projects and regional data centers, in a way that preserves Yemen’s rights and sovereignty and achieves its interests.
