Authority of Security Council withdrawn in favor of Washington: Sanaa FM

SANAA, Dec. 23 (YPA) – Yemen’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Saturday the continued failure of the Security Council to carry out its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security.

The Ministry explained in a statement that Resolution No. 2720, which was adopted on Friday regarding the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, confirms beyond any doubt that the authority of the Security Council has been withdrawn in favor of Washington, which legitimizes the Zionist enemy to commit crimes with a justification violates international and humanitarian law and aims at liquidating the Palestinian cause and imposing forced displacement as a fait accompli.

The statement stressed that the resolution was emptied of its content and ignored the reality of what is happening on the ground in the Gaza Strip of the war crimes and genocide against Palestinian civilians, especially children, women and the elderly, in addition to imposition of a stifling blockade on the entry of food supplies, water and fuel, and the collapse of the entire health system.

The ministry’s statement called on the Arab, Islamic and peace-loving countries to take a serious stance in support of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and to allow the entry of humanitarian aid, medicine, food and fuel without any obstruction, by exerting pressure on the Zionist enemy and its allies in Washington and EU States.
