Higher Education Ministry warns private universities

SANAA, July 9 (YPA) – The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research warned on Monday that some private universities will open registration outside the framework of the unified registration portal for the academic year 2018-2019, in a statement obtained by Yemen Press Agency.
The Ministry called on the owners and heads of universities and colleges to abide by the non-announcement of the opening of registration and acceptance for the year 2018-2019 outside the framework of the electronic window and before the registration date set on the first of August.
The ministry stressed on the obligation not to register outside the electronic window and not to deal with so-called manual recording cards, holding the university that infringed the full responsibility.
The statement stressed on the speed of submitting applications for evaluation of medical and engineering programs for the universities that have programs and conducted without obtaining the approval of the evaluation committees, pointing out that the practice of teaching without completing the academic accreditation procedures is a violation and the ministry will take the legal procedures.

The ministry called on the private universities that the body authorized by law to form specialized committees is the Academic Accreditation Council and no reports will be accepted from any evaluation committees outside the Accreditation Council.
