NEW YORK, Dec. 18 (YPA) – The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) revealed the killing of at least 297 displaced Palestinians who took refuge in UNRWA facilities in Gaza between October 7 and December 16.
The OCHA’s Office said in a statement on Tuesday “about 297 displaced people were killed, and another 1,032 displaced Palestinians were injured, taking refuge in UNRWA facilities, and shelters, as well as several UNRWA schools in the Gaza Strip were damaged.
“70 of the affected schools are UNRWA schools, of which at least 56 schools operate as shelters for internally displaced persons,” the statement continued. “Many schools, including UNRWA schools, were subjected to direct bombardment by Zionist air strikes or tank shells.”
In general, about 1.9 million Palestinians, who constitute more than 85% of Gaza’s population, have been displaced from across the Strip since last October 7, including about 1.4 million who have taken refuge in UNRWA facilities.
On Monday, Palestine’s Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that at least 19,453 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7.
