Sudan’s Foreign Ministry summons UAE Chargé d’Affairs

KHARTOUM, Dec. 10 (YPA) – The Sudanese Foreign Ministry summoned this afternoon Badriya Al-Shaji, the acting Emirati Chargé d’Affaires of the UAE embassy in Khartoum.

According to the Sudanese News Agency, “the UAE ambassador was informed of the decision of the government of Sudan on deporting 15 diplomats from Sudanese territory.

The move comes in response to the United Arab Emirates’ move to expel 3 Sudanese diplomats on Saturday.

the Sudanese Foreign Ministry informed Emirati Chargé d’Affairs that 15 are considered persona non grata and should leave Sudanese territory within 48 hours.

Public tension appeared in the relationship between the two countries after Sudanese Council member Yasser Al-Atta slammed UAE on the twenty-eighth of last November, describing it as a “mafia state” while addressing gunmen affiliated with the National Intelligence Service at the Wadi Saydna air base, north of the city of Omdurman. However, no official statement was issued by the UAE at the time before it responded by expelling three diplomats from its territory yesterday, Saturday.
