Dry land port to be established in Hodeida

HODEIDA, Dec. 05 (YPA) – The Minister of Transport in the caretaker government, Abdulwahab Al-Durrah, the Governor of Hodeida province, Muhammad Quhim, signed on Tuesday an agreement to establish a dry land port in Hodeida.

According to the agreement, the Executive Unit for Projects and Maintenance will establish the first phase of the port on the land allocated by the local authority at the entrance to the city overlooking the eastern gate of Hodeida Port, with an area of 44,000 square meters, at a cost of 97 million riyals, which includes parking lots for trucks and heavy transport vehicles with facilities to provide them with fuel services and maintenance workshops, with funding from the General Authority for Land Transport.

The Minister of Transport emphasized the importance of the port in containing trucks and heavy transport vehicles to avoid random parking at the entrances and main roads in Hodeida, which causes congestion and obstruction of traffic.

He explained that establishing the port is one of the priorities included in the plans of the Ministry and the Authority for the first phase of the national vision.

For his part, the Governor of Hodeida appreciated the coordination between the local authority and the Ministry of Transport to develop services in the city of Hodeida, affirming the importance of establishing a land port to promote land transport.
