Amount of gas burned from Shabwa station is enough to light 3 Yemeni provinces

SHABWA, Nov. 26 (YPA) – The quantity of extracted gas that is combusted in the air in the “S2” sector of the Al-Uqla field, east of Ataq city, the provincial capital of Shabwa, is estimated at 50 to 80 million cubic feet per day.

Abdul-Ghani Gaghman, the geologist and consultant in natural resources development, confirmed on Sunday in his post on X that the Yemeni governments did not operate the gas compressors that were purchased in 2012, in addition to establishing an electric gas station in Shabwa.

He pointed the amount of gas burned in the air is sufficient to light 3 Yemeni provinces.

Gaghman renewed his repeated assertions that the liquefied natural gas agreement with Total company is disastrous, as Yemen only reaps 5% of revenues from it, amounting to approximately $300 million per year.
