Hundreds of demonstrators in Lausanne protest Macron’s visit due to his position on Gaza war

WORLD, Nov. 16 (YPA) – Hundreds of people participated in a demonstration held at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, in support of Palestine and in protest against French president Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the university and his positions on the Palestinian issue.

French President Emmanuel Macron was due to speak with Swiss Confederation President Alain Berset on Thursday morning at the University of Lausanne, Belgian newspaper “Blick” reported.

The local newspaper reported that police fired gas at pro-Palestinian demonstrators outside the university after the demonstration spiraled out of control at the University of Lausanne on Thursday.

According to the newspaper, 200 people gathered to protest against Macron’s visit to the University of Lausanne, to denounce his complicity with the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

The Blick newspaper explained that the demonstration started from the Faculty of Arts and walked across the campus, where the French and Swiss presidents arrived at 10:15 am, indicating that the students knocked on pots and pans and chanted slogans carrying Palestinian flags.
