US Treasury: APEC finance ministers agree that the war on Gaza poses a threat to the global economy

WORLD, Nov. 14 (YPA) –  US Treasury Secretary announced that the finance ministers of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum agreed that the expansion of the war on Gaza poses a threat to the global economy.

Janet Yellen told a news conference after the organization’s finance ministers’ meeting in San Francisco: “We talked about the risks to the global economic outlook, and I think there was a common view that we all have to do everything we can to contain the conflict between Israel and Hamas so that it doesn’t turn into a regional war.”

Yellen added that if the ongoing conflict turns into a regional war, it could pose risks to the global economy.

A growing number of experts have warned of the danger of the conflict expanding in the Middle East in the wake of the recent developments around Gaza, noting that what is happening this time portends a devastating war.
