HODEIDA, Nov. 14 (YPA) – 29 fishermen have returned to Hodeida more than a year after they were kidnapped and tortured in the prisons of the Eritrean authorities.
During their reception at the fishing port, the governor of Hodeida, Mohammed Ayash Quhaim, considered the repeated kidnapping of fishermen by Eritrea, war crimes and a flagrant violation of all international conventions.
The deputy head of the Red Sea Fisheries Authority, Abdul Malik Sabra, explained that the fishermen arriving at the fishing port in Hodeida exceeded their periods of imprisonment and torture in Eritrea for more than a year, indicating that dozens of other fishermen are still under torture.
For his part, the director general of ports and centers at the authority, Aziz Atini, condemned all the crimes of repeated kidnappings against Yemeni fishermen, whether by the Eritrean authorities or by the Saudi aggression coalition, calling on the international community and the global humanitarian conscience to stop the ongoing violations against Yemeni fishermen.
The released fishermen said that while they were fishing in Yemeni territorial waters in various places, boats belonging to the Eritrean Navy kidnapped them and took them at gunpoint to its prisons, looted and confiscated their property and fishing equipment.
