Mahra province plunges into new disaster

MAHRA, Nov. 09 (YPA) – Mahra governorate, eastern Yemen which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, was exposed during the past hours to a new disaster after Cyclone Tej, which left great damage in various districts, including the city of Ataq, the center of the governorate.

“The power plant in the city of Al-Ghaydah stopped service due to the running out of fuel,” informed sources in the Mahra’s Electricity Corporation said, adding that the pro-coalition government, headed by Maeen Abdul-Malik did not pay any attention to the electricity service as the case in the city of Aden.

The sources pointed out that the power stop caused widespread discontent among the people who wondered about the fate of the province’s revenues from the port and marine wealth and who benefits from it.

This comes after the pro-coalition government failed to provide shelter and food to the people affected by Cyclone Tej, which swept through residential neighborhoods and destroyed a number of citizens’ homes in Huswain district, which was declared a disaster area at the end of last October.
