INDONESIA, Nov. 08 (YPA) – An earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Indonesia on Wednesday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
The tremor was recorded around noon today, UTC, 341 kilometers southeast of the Indonesian city of Ambon.
The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers, and the Indonesian authorities did not issue any tsunami warning as a result.
The American Institute of Geophysics estimated the magnitude of the earthquake at 7 degrees, while other estimates spoke of 7.2 degrees.
There was no immediate information about casualties or damage.
