Local official in Mahra: Hurricane Tej exceeded expectations

MAHRA, Oct. 26 (YPA) – The Director General of Huswin District in Mahra province and Chairman of the District Emergency Committee, Yasser Al-Asad, said, “The hurricane that struck Mahra recently was devastating and powerful.”

Al-Asad added in press statements that Hurricane Tej, which reached last Monday a number of Mahra districts, which are under the control of the Saudi-led coalition, exceeded all expectations.

He explained that the concerned authorities were asked to send a helicopter to rescue citizens and transport patients without arriving in time, indicating that it was on its way to Al-Ghaydah too late.

The local authorities in Mahra declared the districts of “Huswin, Qishn, and Al-Ghaydah” disaster areas, calling on the coalition and the United Nations to provide the people with food and shelter.
