WASHINGTON, Oct. 26 (YPA) – The US special envoy to Yemen, Tim Lenderking, linked the peace talks between Sanaa and Riyadh to the events taking place in the Gaza Strip.
Lenderking said during his participation on Wednesday in a panel discussion held by the American Institute of Peace on emptying the floating oil tank “Safer”, “The worst thing I fear, of course, is that Yemen will be dragged into another war, especially since the war in Yemen has not yet ended.”
He pointed out that as the conflict continued, “the administration of US President Joe Biden continued to provide financial support to its ally, Israel.”
The US envoy explained that there was relative optimism about the prospects for peace in Yemen in the months preceding the escalation of the conflict between the Palestinian resistance and the Zionist entity.
He expressed his hope for peace in Yemen, despite the regional tension, as he said. “We have to continue Yemeni diplomacy. I think the Yemenis may feel that there is a moment when there could be an end to the conflict.”
The American envoy statements are considered an implicit threat to return the war to Yemen by pushing Saudi Arabia and the UAE to continue their war operations in the country.
This came in conjunction with the announcement of the Supreme Political Council, the highest political authority in northern Yemen, during which it affirmed that Sanaa is closely monitoring the situation in occupied Palestine and that it would not stand idly by regarding the genocide taking place in Gaza.
The US Department of Defense announced last Thursday that it “confronted a number of missiles and drones that were launched from Yemen towards Israel.”
Meanwhile, the head of the caretaker government in Sanaa, Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, had announced that American warships would be a target for the Yemeni armed forces in support of the Palestinian people.
Sayyed Abdulmalik Al-Houthi had threatened, in the first days of the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle, Yemen’s entry directly into the war in the event of direct American intervention in the aggression against Gaza.
