WORLD, Oct. 25 (YPA) – UN Secretary-General António Guterres has said the world is on the brink and action must be taken before a large number of people suffer.
“ Today is the UN Day, marking 78 years since the UN Charter entered into force. At this critical hour, I appeal to all to pull back from the brink before the violence claims even more lives and spreads even further,” UN Secretary-General António Guterres said in a post on his X account on Tuesday.
The United Nations General Assembly was established on October 24, 1947, and has been celebrated annually since 1948. The date was chosen due to the entry into force of the Charter of the United Nations on October 24, 1945.
In 1971, the General Assembly recommended that United Nations Member States celebrate it at the state level.
