Yemen Media Union condemns Israeli enemy’s murder of journalists, media figures in Gaza

SANAA, Oct. 17 (YPA) -The Yemeni Media Union (YMU) condemned the continued crimes of the Israeli enemy against media professionals in Palestine.

The YMU explained in a statement – obtained by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) – that during the past few days the Israeli occupation forces committed more than 57 violations against journalists in the Gaza Strip. These violations included killing 11 journalists and injuring 19, bombing 13 media institutions, and targeting the homes and cars of 12 media personnel.

The Union added: “It is truly regrettable that Western countries are accustomed to the Zionist enemy committing serious crimes and violations against journalists, media professionals. For example the French government ordered the Hotelsat satellite to stop broadcasting the Al-Aqsa Channel, Al-Aqsa on the social media platform (Facebook).” France is placing restrictions on all accounts that expose the crimes of the Israeli enemy by deleting news and blogs by activists and supporters of the oppression of the Palestinian people.

The statement indicated that the obfuscation and misinformation have reached an obscene level in terms of double standards and the application of international human rights laws, and it has become the duty of all living consciences in the world to take serious action to stop the Israeli massacre in Gaza.

The YMU renewed its denunciation of the crimes of the Zionist enemy against civilians and its violations of international laws and conventions affirming the protection of journalists. YMU registered absolute solidarity with its colleagues in the profession.

The statement called on the Yemeni, Arab and international media, the International Federation of Arab and International Journalists, the Journalists Support Committee, and all human rights organizations, to jointly coordinate protests against Israeli violations against journalists, and to take measures to ensure the protection of journalists and the media in reporting the course of events in Gaza.
