WORLD, Oct. 16 (YPA) – Colombian President Gustavo Pietro has threatened to cut ties with “Israel”, which suspended the export of security equipment to Colombia because of its stance on the Israeli assault on Gaza.
“If we have to suspend foreign relations with Israel, we suspend them. We do not support genocides. The president of Colombia is not insulted,” Petro said in a post on his X account.
Petro also asked Latin American countries throughout the region to show solidarity with Colombia and assured that Israel is the one that should apologize for the acts committed by Yair Klein (a mercenary accused of providing weapons to paramilitaries in Colombia) and the deceased general Rafael Eitan (former commander-in-chief of the Israel Defense Forces).
This came after the summoning of Colombia’s ambassador to Tel Aviv against the backdrop of statements by her country, Gustavo Pietro, regarding the war on Gaza, which Israel considered as “hostile and anti-Semitic” statements.
“Israel” decided to halt defense exports to Colombia.
