SHABWA, Oct. 06 (YPA) – Heavily armed military forces stormed the headquarters of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Shabwa province in southeast Yemen, local sources said.
According to the sources, the military forces loyal to the southern commander, Aseel Rashid, stormed the headquarters of the STC in the city of Ataq, the capital of the governorate, in search of soldiers affiliated with the STC. The solider had killed a soldier and wounded others on Thursday evening.
The UAE-backed pro-STC-backed Shabwa Defense Forces declared neutrality and withdrew from a number of checkpoints inside the city of Ataq and from all checkpoints deployed in the city, the sources said.
The sources confirmed that the forces of Aseel Rashid deployed in the city of Ataq after the arrival of reinforcements coming from the city of Aden.
Clashes took place on Thursday evening between the STC forces and the southern resistance forces, which left casualties.
