Terrorists attack Turkish Interior Ministry in Ankara

WORLD, Oct. 01 (YPA) – A terrorist attack on Sunday morning targeted the  the Turkish ministry of Interior in Ankara, carried out by two elements, one of whom blew himself up and the other was eliminate, the country ‘s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.

“The attack took place at 09.30 and was carried out by two terrorists who were driving a car, one of them blew himself up outside the Interior Ministry’s main gate and the other was neutralized,” the interior minister said in a statement.

He added that during the exchange of fire, two police officers were slightly injured.

Earlier, Turkish media said explosions were heard near the Interior Ministry building, with security forces cordoned off the area.

According to CNN Turk, the explosion occurred near the Turkish Interior Ministry building in central Ankara, and members of the presidential guard arrived at the scene.

“An explosion was heard in the Kızılay district of central Ankara and likely occurred near the Interior Ministry, where the surrounding roads were closed to traffic,” it said.

The channel did not say the cause or nature of the explosion, but reported  that the suicide bomber was killed and two policemen wounded in the attack.
