Sanaa calls on Egyptian authorities to release Al-Shujaa

SANAA, Sept. 25 (YPA) – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Sanaa government, Hussein Al-Ezzi, submitted a petition to the Egyptian government to release the Yemeni writer and political leader, Adel Al-Shujaa, who was recently detained in Cairo.

“We do not doubt for a moment that the Egyptian authorities have arrested the Yemeni citizen/ Al-Shujaa for legal reasons,” Al-Ezzi said in his post on (X) platform, adding, but at the same time, we trust that beloved Egypt is the safest place for all of us.”

He called on Egyptian authorities to free the arrested after taking his pledge not to repeat any violation.

“If he must be deported, let him be deported to Sanaa, and God willing, he will be pardoned by our wise leadership for all the abuse he committed against his country and its people,” Al-Ezzi addressed the Egyptian government. Al-Shujaa can live as a good citizen with full respect for the system and the law, the just cause of the people, and the great sacrifices of Yemen, in appreciation of his children and the honorable relatives of him.”

Last Monday, the Egyptian authorities raided the house of Shujaa, a leader in the General People’s Congress loyal to coalition, and arrested him due to his political positions at the request of the Saudi-formed Presidential Leadership Council, led by Rashad al-Alimi.

While the brother of the held, Abdel-Hafez, reported that what happened was the result of a report submitted by Rashad Al-Alimi, to the Egyptian authorities.
