Pro-UAE leader survives armed ambush in Dhalea

DHALEA, Sept. 19 (YPA) – A senior leader in the pro-UAE armed factions survived on Monday an assassination attempt in Dhalea province, south of Yemen.

Sources familiar with the matter said that gunmen ambushed the convoy of the commander of the second sector in the security belt forces, Nader Mohammed Muqbil, while he was passing through Al-Sila area, east of the city of Dhalea.

The sources indicated that unknown gunmen heavily opened fire towards the leader, Muqbil and fled.

On Sunday, gunmen detonated a hand grenade near one of the homes of the leaders of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council, in the city center.

The reasons and motives for the attempted assassination of the leader of the transitional factions, or the party responsible for it, have not yet known, but the operation came within the framework of deadly conflicts between the factions of the Saudi-Emirati coalition.
