Meteorology Center warns of hot weather, winds in several provinces during next 24 hours

SANAA, Sept. 08 (YPA) – The National Meteorology Center expected on Friday that hot to very hot weather in the coastal areas and deserts, as well as rains of varying intensity, accompanied by thunderstorms in a number of provinces during the next 24 hours.

In its weather forecast, the center expected that the weather will be hot to very hot in the deserts and interior plateaus, with maximum temperatures ranging between 37-44 degrees Celsius, while the coastal areas, may witness hot and humid weather, with maximum temperatures ranging between 33-39 degrees Celsius.

The center predicted that rains of varying intensity accompanied by thunderstorms, likely to hit parts of the governorates of Shabwa, Abyan, Bayda, Lahj, Aden, Taiz, Dhalea, Ibb, Dhamar, Raymah, Mahweet, Hajjah, Amran, Saada and Tihama Plain, while light to moderate rain on parts of the provinces Sanaa, Hadramout and western Mahra.

It also expected that active to very strong winds around the Socotra archipelago, ranging in speed between 14-28 knots, and moderate winds around the southern and eastern coasts, and the entrance to Bab al-Mandeb, ranging in speed between 8-21 knots, causing turbulences over the sea

The center called on citizens not to be in valleys and torrent passages in areas where rain is expected, to take shelter from thunderstorms, and not to use mobile phones.

It also called on fishermen and seagoers to take the necessary precautions against sea turbulence and high waves around the Socotra archipelago, the southern and eastern coasts, and the entrance to Bab al-Mandab.
